Scientific name of fenugreek greens is Trigonella foenum-graecum. It belongs to the family Fabaceae. Fenugreek is considered to be a native of Eastern Europe and Ethiopia. It is widely cultivated in India and Mediterranean countries. Common name of fenugreek greens is Greek hay.
Health Benefits of Fenugreek Greens: Fenugreek greens are rich in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and dietary fiber. Fenugreek leaves and seeds have excellent health benefits as regular consumption of fenugreek leaves aids in alleviating stomach problems such as indigestion and constipation, and stimulates spleen and liver functions. Fenugreek leaves enhance fat metabolism in our body and reduce fat deposits. Fenugreek leaves are rich in water-soluble fibers which help in preventing heart diseases and other life style diseases such as diabetes and stroke. Fenugreek seeds are good for hair growth. Calcium deficiency results in weakening of bones, rickets in children, tooth decay and pains in legs and back of the body.
