Parsley fresh leaves are used to prepare fresh juices and herbal tea which may be used as alternative medicines in certain cases of ailments. Parsley leaf (herb) oil and seed oil also have medicinal properties and in some cases used as natural medicines.

- Parsley as a Diuretic: Since parsley is rich in potassium, it has a diuretic effect on the body.
- Parsley for a strong immune system: Since parsley is rich in vitamins, it imparts a strong immune system upon regular consumption.
- Parsley oil as an anti cancer agent : Since parsley is rich in volatile oil components such as myristicin, limonene, eugenol, and alpha-thujene and flavonoid antioxidants such as apiin, apigenin, crisoeriol, and luteolin, it has strong anti-cancer properties. Myristicin is believed to be having the properties of inhibiting tumor formation in the lungs. Apigenin is believed to be having strong anticancer properties.
- Parsley for a Healthy Heart: Since parsley is rich in folate (folic acid), its regular consumption increases overall health of the heart. Folate or folacin reduces the level of homocysteine, a naturally occurring harmful amino acid in the blood stream. High levels of homocysteine in blood may damage blood vessels making the human body susceptible to a range of heart disorders such as stroke and heart attack. Folate present in parsley converts homocysteine in to harmless molecules.
- Parsley as an Anti-Inflammatory Agent: Presence of eugenol in parsley oil imparts its powerful anti-inflammatory properties. Hence parsley oil may be used as a protection against osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
- Parsley as a Detoxifying Agent: Apigenin and myristicin, two important antioxidants found in parsley enhances functioning of human liver enzymes which, in turn, results in detoxification of human body. It has diuretic effect on kidneys by helping kidneys to flush out body toxins.

Health Risks Associated With Parsley Consumption: Parsley is high (1.70% by mass) in oxalic acid. Oxalates are a group of naturally-occurring compounds in plants. Upon consumption, oxalic acid within the human body may result in the formation of kidney and gall bladder stone. Hence for people suffering from kidney and bladder stones and infections, consumption of large amounts of oxalates may pose health threats. Hence parsley is not recommended for such persons. Parsley is also not recommended for consumption by pregnant women. Parsley as an oil, root, leaf, or seed could lead to uterine stimulation and preterm labor.
